Check out last year's projects and activities on this site. It takes EAST students a few weeks to get another year going. All students have now been set up in Little Rock database, assigned a new Gaggle email, and have a profile accounts on the EAST class server. New students are designing homes on ArchiCad software. (Look for some of those designs in the near future.) Former students are helping new students, setting up software on computers, making proposals for new projects, and some are continuing projects from last year that carried over.

ANNOUNCEMENT: NATIONAL EAST NIGHT OUT OCTOBER 6TH, ROOM 115 AT THE HIGH SCHOOL.

Cedarville's EAST Program will be participating in the National EAST Night Out celebration this year:

Welcome to EAST Night Out!!!

We invite you to be a part of the best of modern education, the EAST® Initiative's Open House! EAST Night Out is an opportunity for EAST schools across the nation to share with their communities the power of student-driven, service-based, technology-infused, education. It is an opportunity to showcase your school, your students, your communities, and your futures. EAST students are seeking out and solving problems in their communities and preparing themselves to achieve in ways that will stagger you. Come and share, come and see, come and be amazed. Education is different here.

Over 200 schools participate in EAST with the majority hosting their individual EAST Night Out on Tuesday, October 6th. Students will share projects they are working on and hopefully some that are just getting started. On this night, we will invite community and business leaders, media, and parents to let EAST students show - and tell - their EAST story. Take advantage of this exciting opportunity to see how you and your community can get involved with EAST students who are changing their world.

National EAST Initiative

What is EAST? EAST is an acronym for Environmental and Spatial Technology. The EAST Initiative is a nonprofit organization which provides a new way of learning for modern students.

EAST focuses on student-driven service projects through the use of the latest in technology. EAST schools are equipped with classrooms containing state-of-the-art workstations, servers, software, and accessories, including GPS/GIS mapping tools, architectural and CAD design software, 3D animation suites, and much more. Students find problems in their local communities and then use these tools to solve them.

EAST's focus, however, is not on technology itself, but on the unique learning environment of the EAST classroom. In EAST, students are responsible for creating their own project lesson plans. There are no lectures and no tests; instead, the students are guided by an EAST facilitator, a teacher with extensive training in the EAST process. This radically different approach to learning shows tremendous results. Through self-directed learning and troubleshooting, students are better-prepared for both college and the business world. (See information below on assessment methods for EAST students.)

For more information on the national EAST Initiative including details on training methods, the history of EAST, industry partners involved in EAST, and recognition EAST programs have received, please visit our introductory site by going to www.eastproject.org or just click on the above conference picture.
